Introduction
I went years without a period after being diagnosed with a pituitary adenoma. When I finally started menstruating again, a host of health issues have slowed down my attempts at trying to conceive. I have tried almost everything, but finding Mira was the one thing that has actually helped. Read on to see how I’ve handled my health challenges and used Mira’s hormone testing to decipher my hormonal imbalances and how I’m using it while TTC.
Before Mira
I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for over 5 years now and we always knew we wanted children. I had tried many different fertility trackers but became interested in my hormonal balance after some health challenges. Other fertility tracking methods only give limited information but I wanted to be able to track my hormones in a more comprehensive way.
In 2020 I was diagnosed with a pituitary adenoma. This is a non-cancerous growth on the pituitary gland that can grow and put pressure on nearby areas. Even though it doesn’t spread like cancer, it can still cause other health concerns and needs to be treated. The pituitary gland is responsible for releasing hormones including many that are essential to fertility. It can totally mess up your hormonal balance and cause a host of health issues, including weight gain.
I used Ozempic to lose weight but unfortunately I gained it all back. Because of my pituitary issues, I started Clomid to help stimulate the hormones needed for ovulation. Rather than help ovulation, it completely messed everything up and it felt like things were all over the place so I was looking for something to not only track hormones and my cycle, but confirm ovulation as well.
Because of my health issues, I went 4 years without a period and have only started menstruating again in the last year and a half. I’m using a combination of methods to track my cycle but when I saw Mira while scrolling TikTok I became intrigued. It seemed like the answer to my issues and would give me the ability to track my hormones better.
Trying to conceive has not been without its ups and downs. In early 2023 I found out I was pregnant, but my joy was short-lived. I started bleeding and doctors told me I had an ectopic pregnancy. Luckily we caught it early and I only needed two shots of methotrexate (the drug used to stop the rapid growth of ectopic pregnancies). After lots of rest, we’ve been able to return to TTC and have gone through multiple cycles.
Using Mira
I’ve tried a lot of different fertility tracking options, but none have been as comprehensive as Mira. That’s not to say they’re not useful and don’t work for some people, I just needed something more. With Mira I’ve been able to see that my progesterone is lower than average, but my estrogen is exactly where I need it to be.

This information has been so helpful while TTC and as a bonus, I can share it with my doctor.
