"After 5 years of marriage, my husband and I finally decided we were ready to start a family. We were so excited to have kids that we made a “10-year plan” in the notes app! We outlined the perfect timeline for the 3 beautiful kids we hoped to have over the next 5 years. We expected that we would remove my IUD, conceive within 6 months, and the rest would simply fall into place…

A hitch in the perfect plan

We soon found out that our perfect plan may be harder to achieve than we had originally thought. 9 months, 1 failed IUI, and many medicated cycles later, we were still without a positive pregnancy test.

By this point, I already felt like I had become an expert in all things TTC. I constantly researched and tried different ways to track ovulation - from measuring my temperature each morning to watching for a smiley face on an ovulation test, I was hooked. After about 6 months with no success, we visited a fertility specialist.

Clarity with Mira

It was here we began medicated cycles (both pills and injections), and even the IUI, all to no avail. I have PCOS so knew there may be underlying issues with my cycle being irregular but ultimately we were given a diagnosis of ‘Unexplained Infertility’. We were considering IVF when I came across information about Mira.

I LOVED the fact that Mira would give me actual numbers for my LH (and later E3G) levels, rather than relying on a confusing line or smiley face.

What made me decide to buy Mira was the fact that even if I didnʼt conceive, I would at least know more about my fertility, and maybe learn more about my PCOS diagnosis.

Advice for others

While it did take us over a year of using Mira to conceive our miracle baby, the process gave me invaluable information about my cycles and my fertility that I couldnʼt have received anywhere else. My advice to others on a fertility journey is to keep going, keep learning about yourself, and remember you are not alone. Infertility is complicated and difficult, so don't be afraid to ask for help."
