My story with Mira began long before I ever imagined needing it. I’m a data scientist, and I originally knew the product from a tech perspective. I even ended up helping with the algorithm behind it. But what brought me to Mira wasn’t a work project, it was a deeply personal health crisis.
When Sleep Disappears
It all started when I was 39, after a serious case of COVID-19. Once I recovered from the virus, I expected things to go back to normal. Instead, I plunged into six straight months of insomnia. I’d never experienced anything like it. No matter what I tried, melatonin, morning walks for sunlight, sleep clinics, cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBTi), nothing worked.
I knew something deeper was wrong. My sleep hygiene was solid, my routines consistent. But I still couldn’t fall asleep. As a data-driven person, I dove into the research and eventually found a functional medicine doctor.
He didn’t look at female hormones at first. We’d already checked those with my gynecologist, and everything supposedly looked normal. But he did run other panels and found imbalances with my GABA and cortisol levels. With targeted supplements, my sleep returned, finally!
From One Mystery to Another
Just as I was getting my life back, a new problem surfaced: pelvic pain. It started quietly, but soon it became a constant companion. For nearly a year, I cycled through doctors, clinics, and tests: MRIs, ultrasounds, biopsies, even multiple rounds of antibiotics. Everything came back “normal.” And yet, the pain persisted.
Doctors floated possibilities like endometriosis, interstitial cystitis, or just plain “unexplainable pelvic pain.” But no one could give me a clear answer. I was frustrated and exhausted. Despite my symptoms, hormone panels continued to come back “within range.” But I knew in my gut that something was still off.
Taking Matters Into My Own Hands
That’s when a friend mentioned Mira. She had used it for hormone tracking and told me it measured multiple hormones daily. That was the turning point. I wasn’t interested in a one-off hormone snapshot anymore. I needed a real-time, full-picture view of what was going on inside my body.
When I started tracking with Mira, the results were eye-opening. My hormone levels were technically within range, but they were consistently scraping the low end. No wonder traditional doctors didn’t catch anything. Their definitions of “normal” were too broad to spot what my body was trying to tell me.
Learning the Language of My Body
Armed with this data, I began learning how to support my cycle, not just my diet. I had already been eating what most people would call healthy: lean protein, vegetables, little sugar. But I wasn’t eating for hormonal balance. I started cycle-syncing my nutrition and incorporating phytoestrogens, increasing my iron intake when bleeding and adding herbs to support my body.

Two months later, the pelvic pain was gone. Completely. The mood swings, irritability, and night sweats vanished with it. It was like someone had finally handed me the user manual to my own body.
Redefining Healthcare Conversations
Having real hormone data in hand changed the way I talk to doctors. I’ve learned how to advocate for myself and now choose practitioners who blend medical expertise with holistic and functional perspectives. My current physician doesn’t just look at labs, she looks at minerals, nutrition, and how the whole system works together.
Mira gave me the confidence and language to be an active participant in my health, not just a passive recipient of diagnoses.

Moving Forward with Trust in My Body
Today, I use Mira to track my fertility stage. In the future, I plan to rely on it during perimenopause and menopause. Knowing I can monitor my hormones on my terms, at home with real data, gives me peace of mind. It helps me make informed choices rather than waiting months for appointments or feeling dismissed by vague lab results.
Looking back, Mira transformed my journey from frustration to empowerment. It helped me reconnect with my body, understand it, and trust it again.
My hope is that others who feel stuck, dismissed, or unheard find their path to clarity too. You don’t need to become a data scientist to understand your cycle. You just need the right tools.
