Ultra4 Results Look Different? Yes, and Here’s Why They’re More Accurate

Written by Karen Joy Dizon

Our mission has always been to give you the clearest, most accurate insight into your hormone health.

Ultra4 Wands feature our most advanced hormone tracking technology. Now measuring four key fertility hormones at once (LH, E3G, PdG, and FSH), unlocking deeper insights into your cycle with improved precision.

Results look different because Ultra4 is more sensitive.

Ultra4 isn’t just a new product—it represents a new generation of at-home, hormone tracking science.

Because Ultra4 is designed with new and improved calibration methods and enhanced sensitivity, your results may look different compared to what you’ve seen with previous Mira Wands.

These slight differences are exactly what makes Ultra4 more powerful for your goals.

What happens if your results are more than 25% different? (When using the same wand and sample)

As this is not a normal scenario, please Contact Customer Support and our team will be able to check and resolve the technical issues with your results to ensure accuracy.

Let’s answer questions you may have about Ultra4 results:

1. How and when do I switch from Max & Ovum Wands to Ultra4 Wands?

The best time to start using Ultra4 is at the beginning of a new cycle, but you can switch at any point.

Just make sure you’ve updated your Mira App and device software before your first test.

2. After switching wands, how should I compare my new cycle to the previous cycle?

Ultra4’s calibration is more precise, so the values may look different from what you’ve seen before, but what really matters is the hormone pattern across your cycle.

✅ Ultra4 is 2.5x more sensitive to hormone changes¹

The Mira App automatically interprets your data and will still accurately detect your ovulation.

Don’t worry if the numbers don’t match your old wands exactly—the pattern is the signal, and Ultra4 makes that signal clearer than ever.

3. Can I mix different types of wands in one cycle?

Each Mira Wand is calibrated differently to measure specific hormones. Ultra4 is the first wand that measures all four at once, with improved calibration to ensure better precision and less errors. This is why it can’t be directly compared to Max or Ovum results.

If you mix wand types in the same cycle, your results may appear inconsistent, for example:

  • Hormone peaks or predictions may appear slightly earlier or later than they really are
  • Ovulation detection or confirmation may be less reliable for that cycle

Remember, finding your true hormone pattern is most important.

For the most reliable results, we recommend sticking to one wand type per cycle.

4. Why are my results different when I test my urine throughout the day?

Hormone levels naturally fluctuate throughout the day due to metabolism and hydration. That’s why we recommend testing with **first morning urine (FMU) for the most accurate results—this is when hormone metabolites are most concentrated.

The only time we suggest a second daily test is if the app recommends it for confirming your LH peak.

5. Why are my results different when I test the same urine sample with different types of wands?

It’s normal for results to vary slightly even from the same urine sample. With Ultra4, differences are more noticeable because of its new antibodies and calibration:

  • FSH & LH: now detected with higher sensitivity
  • PdG: same as before
  • E3G: slightly lower sensitivity to reduce issues with artificially high readings

The Mira App will recognize which wand was used, and the algorithm will interpret the data accordingly to provide precise predictions and detection.

These refinements make Ultra4 more accurate overall. However, if you test the same sample with multiple wands, we don’t recommend uploading both results—it may confuse the algorithm.

✅ Ultra4 is 7x more accurate, up to 6x more sensitive and 3x more reliable than other fertility trackers²

6. Are Ultra4 results the same as blood results?

Urine and blood results will always differ in absolute numbers, but it’s their patterns that matter for detecting ovulation.

Studies have shown that Mira’s hormone tracking has a strong correlation with blood tests for ovulation prediction.

That’s why Mira is trusted by over 2,000 healthcare professionals worldwide.

7. When should I contact customer support about my results?

A certain degree of variation is normal. However, if you see a difference of more than 25% between tests taken with the same type of wand, please reach out to our customer support team.

We’re here to help verify your results and ensure your device is working at peak accuracy.

¹According to quality report, the new generation of Mira Wands has 2.5x higher LH sensitivity and 40% improved repeatability compared to the previous generation.

²Based on a 2025 lab study by MiraLabs comparing Mira to other popular at-home fertility trackers for LH, FSH, E3G, and PdG. “7× more accurate” refers to average alignment with lab results (range 2×-18× for different hormones); “3× more reliable” refers to the average improvement in linearity (range from 1-4× for E3G to 4-6× for LH); and “up to 6× more sensitive” is based on lower detection limits (range from 1-2× for PdG to 6× for E3G). Individual results may vary. Mira is not a diagnostic or contraceptive device.
