I always knew I would have fertility issues based on my family health history
I am proof of my mother’sown miracle. My mom and dad married in 1969, they tried and tried to have kids and never fell pregnant. They even did clomid and my mom ended up with necrotizing cysts and had to have one full ovary and over half of her other ovary removed. She also had endometriosis. In 1974, she and my dad adopted a son. Fast forward 10 yrs, my mom decided to go to college. In between semesters of her first year of college, she fell pregnant with my older brother. He was due in October and was born prematurely in August. When my mom delivered him, the doctor told her “Just because you could have this one doesn’t mean you’ll ever be able to have another.” (Great bedside manner huh?). Well, needless to say, 3 yrs, a month, and 6 days later, I was born. Growing up I always knew I would have fertility issues based on my mom and my aunts (maternal side only) own history. I was also diagnosed with PCOS in 2002 when I was 13 or 14 years old. One of my aunts had endometriosis so bad that she had to have a hysterectomy at age 25, my other two aunts also were diagnosed with endometriosis and went through cycles of IVF and failed.A chemical pregnancy which ended in miscarriage
As soon as my husband and I married in July 2019, we began trying immediately. I did two cycles of clomid and ended up with two 6cm cysts on my right ovary that caused my ovary to torse and untorse itself. I’m fortunate I didn’t need surgery and it resolved within 4 months. I was prescribed letrozole in June 2020 but didn’t want to take until I was established with an OBGYN in my area. On August 23, 2020, I found out I was pregnant with an at home test, the next day my beta HCG was drawn and was 28. On August 29, I sensed something was wrong and began bleeding. When we went to the ER, my HCG was only 4. I was told I had a chemical pregnancy which ended in miscarriage.Discovering Mira
I began using Mira LH and then the LH+Estrogen wands in September 2020 and used Mira for 11 total cycles. From October 2020 through August 2021, I was followed by reproductive endocrinology. They did a baseline monitored cycle with letrozole. It confirmed I ovulated.We completed 9 cycles of letrozolewithout becoming pregnant. I had surgery in April 2020 and was diagnosed with endometriosis when I had surgery to remove a cyst off my left ovary that had been there since I was 18 years old.In June 2021, we were able to complete our first of three medicated cycles with monitoring. I took letrozole and triggered ovulation with ovidrel, I didn’t become pregnant despite all of my labs and ultrasounds looking promising since I ovulated two follicles. I had to sit out July and go on birth control so I could complete a second monitored cycle with letrozole and ovidrel in August. I began taking a baby aspirin in July before my August cycle. August was my final month using Mira. On August 13, my ultrasound showed a 14mm, 17mm, 15mm on my right ovary and a 10mm follicle on my left ovary. On August 17th, I had a 26mm, 12mm, 13mm and 14mm follicles on my right ovary and zero on my left. The nurse checked my lab results for that day after my appointment and gave me a call to give the go ahead to trigger. I injected my ovidrel trigger shot at 4:30pm that day. My Mira showed my LH surge on August 19th.
