"Before Mira I didn’t know much about my hormones aside from the basics. After my husband and I decided to start trying to conceive, I became obsessed with my cycle. A friend had told me about using Mira to test your hormones at home and I jumped at the chance to see a more detailed overview of my cycle. This is the story of how Mira helped me see what was going on inside my body and how my husband and I used the device for TTC."
You don’t know what you don’t know
"Like a lot of women, even though I experienced regular periods, I wasn’t entirely sure what was going on in my body. You hear so much about hormones and balancing hormones before pregnancy that I didn’t know what to expect. My husband and I were trying to conceive and I wanted to become more involved with the process and know what was going on with my hormones. We are both physically healthy and have no known genetic conditions, so I knew we should be able to get pregnant. Of course, things can always happen in different ways and problems can present themselves, but overall I just wanted to get a handle on what was going on in my body so I would have the information I needed.
In our first month of trying we used my period tracker app to estimate ovulation. Most period trackers only provide an estimation based on the calendar method. This method can be useful, it’s not necessarily the most accurate, especially when you’re trying to get pregnant. It doesn’t take into account personal variability and changes in your cycle. While using my period tracker app to predict ovulation, we didn’t get pregnant that month.
In our second month of trying we used the Mira device to predict ovulation. The Mira app actually showed my ovulation occurred two days earlier than the prediction on my other period app. With this new information about when I actually ovulate, we were able to plan our activities for my fertile window for the greatest chance of success.

Even though we didn’t expect it to work so quickly, we were successful in our first month using Mira and our second month of trying. With actual numeric hormone concentration levels, I was able to pinpoint my ovulation and make the best use of my fertile window to result in a positive pregnancy. We are so excited!"
Expectation vs Reality
"After a friend told me about Mira, and how it had worked for her friend right away, I was extremely hopeful but also knew to be realistic about my expectations. I was expecting to get a better overview of my cycle and learn more about what was going on inside my body. Even if it didn’t help me get pregnant right away, the information would provide me with a baseline for the status of my fertility and help point us in the right direction if any problems arised. I started tracking my hormones (LH, e3G, and PdG) with Mira to help us learn more about the timing of my ovulation, but also ultimately to get pregnant. Miraculously, we were successful in our first cycle with Mira and I am pregnant!"
Advice for others
"I know it isn’t like this for everyone, but I truly believe that Mira helped us get pregnant. I was able to pinpoint my actual ovulation (as opposed to a calendar prediction) and then make the best use of that information. I could see my full fertile window and knew when to plan intercourse for the best chance of success.
Thanks to our experience, I’ve been telling everyone about the Mira device. Even if you’re not using it for TTC, the information you can learn about your cycle and hormones is invaluable. Trying to conceive is already stressful enough, but having the information provided by Mira was extremely helpful. I could see the tiniest of hormone changes and how my hormones interact with each other, not to mention discover the most fertile days in my cycle. The personalized results were a game-changer for us and I’m so glad we made the decision to try Mira. Everyone is different, but I highly recommend using Mira!"
