Sandra started researching her fertility options well before she knew she’d need them. Time was of the essence and she wanted to be well-prepared when the time was right. She’d heard all the advice and knew that it might take 6 months to a year of trying to conceive so she was getting her ducks in a row right from the start.
After diving deep into the world of fertility devices and options, Sandra knew what she was looking for and felt that Mira was the right choice for her. And she wasn’t wrong, after 18 months of tracking (and avoiding pregnancy thanks to Mira’s results), Sandra and her partner were successful in their first month of trying. She credits the sheer quality of the information Mira provided and how tracking her cycle helped her get to know her body.
“If I hadn’t been tracking I wouldn’t have had a clue!”
Over 18 months, Sandra used both the Mira fertility analyzer and temperature records to track her cycle and get to know more about her reproductive health. She thanks the detailed information she was able to track with Mira, not only for helping her avoid pregnancy when she wanted to but for giving her the confidence to know exactly where she was on her monthly hormone journey. That information proved invaluable and the couple saw success much sooner than expected.
From her research, Sandra knew all of the traditional advice for couples trying to conceive. She knew that it might take a year or longer to consistently TTC before they might be successful. This was what led her to research fertility options in the first place. She didn’t want to wait that year to find out there was an issue and being a planner she was looking for a solution that could help in more ways than one while giving her some control over the whole process.
Prior to getting pregnant, Sandra was able to track her cycle over a significant length of time. Not only did she love the information Mira provided, but she found other benefits as well. Knowing exactly when her period was and being able to track her personalized hormone data (along with temperature tracking) helped pinpoint her most fertile time of the month. She used this information to actually avoid pregnancy and supplemented it with backup methods as needed.
Women’s health had always been an interest of Sandra’s and she’d even considered a career as a midwife so she wanted to be 100% prepared for any emotional or medical issues she might have on her journey. It wasn’t until she and her husband were ready to start trying though that she realized the full benefits of personalized hormone data.
Sandra was prepared to wait the six to twelve months she’d read so much about in her research, but thanks to knowing her cycle so well, she never even had to wait. Once her husband and she decided to start trying, it only took a quick glance at the Mira app to realize she was about to hit her fertile window. The couple struck while the iron was hot and even though her husband was convinced of their success, Sandra wasn’t so sure.
Many couples have to endure the dreaded two-week wait before they find out if their efforts paid off, but Sandra knew exactly when to test thanks to Mira’s data. She still wasn’t convinced though so she started testing a week before her period was due if nothing else to convince her husband he wasn’t right. Much to her surprise, and after more than a few negative tests, she found out she was pregnant!
Even though she’d done a lot of research and reading, especially on Mira’s blog, she was genuinely surprised at the result. For a variety of reasons, Sandra had been on the pill since she was a teenager and was concerned about the long-term effects on her reproductive health. She’d been off the pill for quite some time, but still had concerns in the back of her mind and wanted to get to know her cycle well and truly before trying to conceive. So even though she knew her cycle like the back of her hand, it was still a genuine surprise and relief to get pregnant so quickly.
Advice for others
With all of her research and reading, Sandra had two pieces of advice to offer others on this journey: be patient and get to know your cycle. Even though she was blessed to conceive in her first month of trying, it came on the back of many months of learning the ins and outs of her cycle through personalized hormone data from Mira. In Sandra’s words “it’s well worth knowing your body and how your body works.”
And it has been well worth it. Sandra credits her success to the information she was able to learn through Mira and now advises other women to do the same. “Even if you’re not trying to get pregnant, getting to know your cycle can be a lifeline on the ups and downs of this journey and Mira can help you advocate for yourself.”
