Ashley, 28 | PCOS, Pregnancy, and Trusting My Body Again

As a veterinarian, I spent years learning about hormones and reproduction, just not my own.

When my husband and I decided we were ready to start a family, I assumed it would be straightforward. After all, I’d spent plenty of time managing reproduction in animals. But nothing about my own cycle made sense.

A Diagnosis That Didn’t Explain Everything

Shortly after we started trying, I was diagnosed with PCOS. The symptoms hit hard: full-body swelling, irregular cycles, and a constant sense that something wasn’t adding up. I saw endocrinologists, gynecologists, general practitioners—none of them could give me the clarity I was looking for.

I tried standard ovulation tests, but they only confused me more. The smiley face would show up for days, offering no real information. It wasn’t telling me what was actually happening in my body. And I needed more than guesses.

Taking Control with Mira

One of my doctors recommended Mira. I was immediately intrigued; a device that lets you monitor hormone levels daily? That sounded more like the precise tracking we use in veterinary medicine. For the first time, I felt like I could take some ownership of my fertility journey. I could actually see what my body was doing, in real time.

Within one month of using Mira, I got pregnant!

The Moment Everything Changed

Initially, according to the standard ovulation patterns the app had predicted that my ovulation would happen on June 29th. However, through daily tracking the prediction became more accurate and showed that it actually happened on the 26th!

That window was everything. A few weeks later, I started to feel off, nauseous and just... different. We were staying with friends, about to catch a flight the next day. At 1 a.m., I took a pregnancy test. My husband, half-asleep, said it was too early.

Then I screamed from the bathroom.
It was positive.

I took five tests just to be sure. I still have them all.

Paying It Forward

The next day, when I headed off to Kansas for a chiropractic program in July, I packed my Mira just in case. I didn’t need it anymore, but another woman there was struggling to conceive. I let her borrow the device and told her about my experience. She bought her own wands and, a few months later, she got pregnant too!

That’s the thing about knowledge, it multiplies when you share it.

Understanding My Symptoms, Not Just Tracking Them

One of the biggest revelations Mira gave me wasn’t just timing, it was understanding. I learned that my PCOS symptoms actually worsened around ovulation. The swelling, the mood swings, the discomfort: it all started to make more sense when I had actual data to look at. It wasn’t just in my head. There was a reason. I wasn’t crazy. My hormones were doing something, and now I could see it.

Even now, with my son Bode just 12 weeks old, I still have my Mira in the bathroom. I’m breastfeeding and riding the wave of postpartum hormone shifts, but I know I’ll use it again, whether for managing PCOS symptoms or trying for baby number two.

Little Bode

A Tool That Changes the Conversation

I’ve recommended Mira to friends who aren’t even trying to get pregnant, they just want to understand what their bodies are doing. If you’re facing PCOS, cycle irregularity, or just seeking clarity, Mira gives you something that typical tests and quick doctor visits don’t: consistent data. Real insight.

And when you have that, you feel less alone. You feel informed. You feel powerful.

No More Guessing, Just Knowing

Getting pregnant felt like a long shot. We had appointments scheduled with fertility clinics. We were ready to go down that road. And then, with Mira, it happened—sooner than we ever thought possible.

If you’re struggling or overwhelmed, or if you just want to feel like your body makes sense again, I hope my story shows that there’s another way. It’s not just about trying to fix something, it’s about knowing yourself. And when you know yourself, you can finally breathe again.

We can’t imagine life without Bode. And Mira helped make that life possible.
