To get the most out of Mira, you’ve got to regularly test your hormone levels. However, we understand that integrating Mira’s testing process into your daily routine can feel a bit like a chore at first (and it’s definitely easy to forget to test!).

To help, we’ve put together a brief overview of why regular testing is so important and paired it with a few practical tips for how you can stick to a regular testing schedule.

Ready? Let’s go!

Your Testing Routine: Why It’s So Important

So why is your testing routine so important? Because regular testing will help you better predict ovulation and achieve your fertility goals faster.

In fact, in a study published by Fertility & Sterility, researchers found that after testing for three cycles with Mira, the ovulation prediction (OP) accuracy rate for the 4th cycle was 77%. To compare, the accuracy rate for the classical calendar method (before testing with Mira) is only 29%. This is why more testing = more accurate ovulation prediction.

Additionally, among Mira users who are trying to conceive (TTC) and test on at least 70% of the recommended testing days per cycle, an average of 76% conceive within the first three cycles – and this increases to 95% within the first six cycles*. This data is not only for ‘healthy, regular’ cycles, but it includes various cases as well – such as PCOS, hormone imbalances, miscarriage history, irregular cycles, etc.

To put it simply, regular testing helps our users get pregnant as efficiently as possible.

Practical Tips for Testing on Schedule

Turn on notifications in the Mira App

When it comes to staying on schedule with testing, the Mira App will be your best friend!

To start, make sure to allow notifications from the Mira App on your smartphone. This gives Mira permission to notify you when you need to test. Then, double-check within the Mira App to make sure that all reminders for testing are turned on so that you never miss a test. You can also see when exactly you need to test on the Mira App calendar screen, which will show green dots on the days you need to test so that you can plan ahead.

Set regular reminders on smart devices

In addition to using the Mira App, it’s also a good idea to set regular reminders on your smart devices.

For example, you can use the alarm feature on your smartphone to set daily notifications at a specific time. Calendar apps, such as Google Calendar, can also be used to set notifications that appear across all of your devices. It may also be a good idea to utilize smart home devices, such as Amazon Alexa or Google Home, as backup in case any notifications are missed on your smartphone.

Organize your testing supplies

Another tip for staying on track with testing is to get all of your testing supplies organized. Storage solutions, such as compartmentalized boxes or baskets, are helpful for storing your wands needed for each day.

A great place to then store your box or basket is in the bathroom where it’s easy to test. You’ll have a much easier time remembering to test when all of your testing supplies are neatly organized and easily accessible.

Keep your Mira Monitor visible

We also recommend keeping your Mira Monitor and Wands in a visible location in your home – particularly in a place where you are most likely to test.

For example, you could place them in your bathroom next to your toothbrushes or on a bedside table. Having this visible cue will make testing much easier to remember.

Create a routine

Making testing a part of your regular routine is absolutely essential. The challenge, however, is that new habits and routines can be difficult to establish.

One strategy that can help is to connect hormone testing with an already-established daily habit (such as brushing your teeth). You know that you’ll never forget to brush your teeth – so if you can make a habit of testing right after brushing, it will be much easier to remember to test.

When thinking about how testing will fit into your routine, make sure to choose a time when you are least likely to be interrupted. Think of testing as a regular ‘ritual’ that is just as essential to your health as washing your face or brushing your teeth.

Use visual cues

In addition to keeping your Mira Monitor and testing supplies visible, you may also benefit from creating other visual cues within your home. For example, you could place sticky notes with friendly reminders to yourself in prominent places throughout your home – such as mirrors, refrigerator doors, or workstations. This is a simple yet effective way to remind yourself that you need to test.

Prepare in advance

Sticking to a regular testing schedule is so much easier when you have all of your necessary supplies on hand.

To start, make sure to regularly charge your Mira Monitor so that it’s always ready for testing. Next, use the Mira App to see how many different wands you need per cycle – making sure to order enough wands to cover at least 1-2 cycles. To avoid running out of wands, it’s worth considering a subscription plan. Subscribing not only ensures that you’ll never run out of wands, but you can also benefit from cost savings of up to 10%.

And don’t worry about being ‘stuck’ in a subscription plan – you can easily cancel or change your subscription online at any time.
